British carmaker McLaren Automotive and Athletic Propulsion Labs (APL), the high-performance athletic footwear brand, have teamed up to create a new range of luxury footwear. The first offering from the collaboration is the limited-edition APL | McLaren HySpeed, a new silhouette designed as an all-purpose performance running shoe inspired by McLaren’s iconic supercars and hypercars. The HySpeed features a three-piece segmented midsole with APL FutureFoam pods in the front and rear. The shoe has a microfiber heel, an internal adjustment system with three-piece cushion heel padding and APL’s signature Souffle Sockliner. The sneaker, which retails for $450, is available online at www.AthleticPropulsionLabs.com, APL’s flagship store at The Grove in Los Angeles and select retailers globally. Launched in 2010, McLaren Automotive is today the largest part of the McLaren Group, established in 1963 by racer, engineer and entrepreneur Bruce McLaren. McLaren Automotive’s launch of its first line of footwear follows a deal between McLaren Racing and K-Swiss that was announced in July, as also reported by SGI Europe, making the shoe brand a partner starting in late spring 2023.
