FINA (Fédération Internationale de Natation) announced that the Australian city of Melbourne would host the 16th World Swimming Championships (25m). The short-term allocation had become necessary because the swimming world federation removed the event from Kazan following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The World Championships will be held at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre from December 13-18, 2022. More than 1,000 athletes from 180 nations are expected to participate. Prior to the 25-meter World Championships, the next Swimming World Championships will be held in Budapest, Hungary, from June 18 to July 3, 2022.
