Messe Friedrichshafen and ZIV, the German manufacturers’ association of bicycles, have sealed a deal for a strategic partnership. According to Messe FN, ZIV pledges in a five year contract that it is not going to support any other trade show in the region than the Eurobike show at Lake Constance. This agreement can be taking into consideration the fact that ZEG, Germany’s leading buying group for bikes, has approached Messe München to team up to launch Bike Expo, a new trade/consumer exhibition in the capital of Bavaria. In the meantime, ZIV’s managing director, Rolf Lemberg, has announced that he will be leaving that post at the end of 2009. He is to be succeeded by Siegfried Neuberger, the chairman of ZIV’s technical committee, dependent on approval of the group. Lemberg has been head of the group since it was formed in 2000 through the merger of the group for the bicycle and motorcycle industry and the group for the bike and motorcycle parts industry; he had been general manager of the former.
