Migros has announced that it has taken over all shares of Ryffel, the specialty running retailer. The Swiss retail chain had already acquired a majority stake from the founders, Urs and Markus Ryffel, in 2011. The brothers have now sold to Migros the remaining shares. SportXX, Migros' sporting goods chain, will close the two Ryffel stand-alone stores in Bern and Uster by next autumn. Meanwhile, Migros intends to develop “Ryffel Running by SportXX”, a concept of shop-in-shops at the SportXX outlets. There are currently 13 of these stores across Switzerland. Two more are set to open this spring, followed by five additional shop-in-shops in the autumn. Also, more Ryffel shops are scheduled for opening next year.
