Mizuno has signed a global framework agreement with the International Garment and Leather Workers Federation that includes the stipulation that the Japanese sporting goods company implement eight core labor conventions of the International Labor Organization. The federation said that Mizuno is the first Japanese in the sector to sign such an agreement, which is intended to protect the interests of textile workers worldwide. Mizuno signed with the Japanese affiliate of the federation, UI Zensen. The sporting goods company has headquarters in Osaka and Tokyo, and employs almost 2,000 people in Japan alone. It also has factories in the U.K., the U.S., Thailand, China and Japan, and suppliers throughout Asia.
