Mizuno has signed its first deal with an American swimmer, Blake Pieroni, who belongs to the U.S. national team. The deal is a first also for Pieroni himself and for Mizuno USA as a subsidiary of the Japanese brand. Pieroni won a gold medal for the 400-meter freestyle relay at the 2016 Olympic Games and is training for the 2020 Olympics and the FINA World Championships, where Pieroni was on the championship's 400-meter freestyle relay team two years ago. He was scheduled to wear a Mizuno GX-Sonic tech suit along with other Mizuno footwear and apparel, starting with the 2018 FINA Short Course World Swimming Championships in Hangzhou, China, on Dec. 11-16. Pieroni will advise the company on product refinements and take part in its marketing campaigns.
