More than 15,000 people flocked to the first store opened by Décathlon in Sweden last weekend. The store of about 7,000 square meters is situated in a Stockholm shopping center near the airport of Bromma, in a former building of the Pripps brewery, next to three other large-scale retailers. Décathlon said that it was studying all sizeable Swedish towns and that it had already signed for a second site in Barkaby, north of the Swedish capital. The Swedish sports retail market is undergoing far-reaching changes with the entry of three new large-scale retailers in the last months: the Norwegian XXL, the Swedish Usports and now Décathlon. The French sports retail giant, which has been preparing its Swedish launch for the last three years, employs 60 people at the Bromma store and another 15 at its Swedish office.
