Musto has taken over the distribution not only in Italy, as we reported last Dec. 8, but also in Spain. A 28-year-old sailing fan, Aitor Barranechea, has been hired to take care of sales on the Spanish market. The British brand of nautical apparel was previously sold in Spain by Gafa, the distributor of Sebago shoes. The new Italian and Spanish operations are supervised by a newly appointed European sales director, Denis Delgado. He has been associated with the brand since 1996 and has been running Musto's French subsidiary since 1999. These moves in the southern European market coincide with the launch of a new line of casualwear designed by Joe Becker, who previously worked for Hackett London. Musto has annual sales of more than £30 million (€35.7m-$48.0m).
