Nautilus posted a 23 percent sales increase in the second quarter ended June 30. The strong growth, with sales reaching $59.7 million in the quarter, was driven by higher sales in both the direct and retail segments. The gross margins improved by 0.4 percent to 51.4 percent. Operating income from continuing operations grew by 65.3 percent to $3.9 million, primarily reflecting higher sales and gross margins in the direct segment, along with improved leverage of general and administrative costs across higher sales volumes. In the second quarter of 2014, the company had reported net income of $0.6 million, which included a $0.9 million loss from discontinued operations.
