New Balance has announced many new sponsorship deals with young and promising athletes. It has signed a multi-year contract with CoCo Gauff, who qualified for the U.S. Open girls final at the age of 13 last year and this year won the French Open girls title. She is currently sixth in the ITF Junior Girls rankings. A similar multi-year endorsement deal with a sports hopeful has gone to Darius Bazley, a six-foot-nine, 18-year-old basketball forward. His deal is worth anywhere from $1 to $14 million, depending on whether he makes the NBA draft and then meets other criteria. Another new brand ambassador is Sydney McLaughlin, who set several junior world records in indoor running and hurdles while she was a student at the University of Kentucky. The company has also signed a multi-year contract with the sprinter Gabby Thomas, who this year won the 200m in NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships and placed second in the Outdoor Championships.
