New Balance has announced a $65 million investment in construction and capital equipment in its Skowhegan, Maine factory, with a view to double production capacity and add over 200 new jobs to the facility, Footwear News has reported. The factory currently employs 250 people. The investment will allow the renovation of nearly 2,000 existing square meters and to add 11,150 additional square meters to the existing mill building and site. It will also provide additional parking and support to the center. The company expects to move in late August 2023 and to complete the project at the end of 2024, with current operations to continue during construction. New Balance acquired the Skowhegan facility in 1981.
