The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has announced the upcoming creation of a new competition of an unprecedented size among snow sports events. The new FIS Games, taking place over 16 days, will represent the full range of snow sports talent from both Olympic and Non-Olympic sports, including para snow sports. Taking place in a four-year cycle, the event may be hosted by one region or by multiple hosts across a variety of locations, even across borders, the organization explained.
The inaugural edition of the FIS Games is scheduled for 2028. The official application deadline for interested hosts is Nov. 1, 2023, followed by an inspection group phase. The FIS Council will elect the host of the new multi-sport competition in spring 2024.
