Nike is consolidating several existing IT support functions under a single provider, awarding US-based IT services firm Cognizant Technology Solutions a five-year contract covering more than 230 locations across 40-plus countries — a structural bet on outsourced scale over in-house capability.
U.S.-based IT service provider Cognizant Technology Solutions has entered into a new agreement with Nike to transform and support the sporting goods brand’s technology operations. Building on the two companies’ 14-year relationship, this new agreement will consolidate several of Nike’s existing IT support functions, with Cognizant supporting Nike across more than 230 locations in more than 40 countries. Cognizant will support the company’s customers, partners as well as its 70,000 employees in three key areas of technology operations: Multilingual IT Customer Service, Deskside and Dispatch Depot, and Application and Infrastructure Support.
Under the new five-year agreement, Cognizant will assist both Nike customers and employees with their technical support needs. Cognizant will provide on-site and remote support at all locations worldwide to resolve all employee hardware issues from laptops to work phones. In addition, Cognizant will provide technical and back-end solutions for all of Nike’s enterprise-wide applications, including mobile applications, computer software and nike.com, as part of Level 1 and Level 2 support. Cognizant is expected to deliver several key capabilities for Nike over the next five years, including new self-service capabilities, improved service productivity and significant cost savings. The collaboration between Cognizant and Nike is expected to further Nike’s digital transformation, which has been driven by continued investment in capabilities.
