Nike has announced that it will name the newest building in the expansion of its world headquarters in Beaverton after LeBron James, the NBA legend, two-time Olympic gold medalist and a Nike athlete since 2003. It is the sixth new building at the company's world campus since it started an extension project in 2015. The LeBron James Building will house Nike's Advanced Innovation team as well as the new Nike Sport Research Lab, five times the size of the team's current space. Located in the headquarters' north campus, the LeBron James Building will feature a full NBA-size basketball court, a 200-meter endurance track, a 100-meter running track and an artificial turf training pitch. The architectural design was led by Olson Kundig, based in Seattle, in partnership with Mortenson Construction, while Portland-based Place is providing landscape architecture services. The LeBron James Building is scheduled for opening in 2020, along with the previously announced Serena Williams Building.
