Nike has appointed Dirk-Jan van Hameren as its new global marketing chief. With the title of vice president of global creative and marketing innovation, he will be in charge of brand communication, design, advanced concepts and digital marketing innovation. He will also handle event marketing. Van Hameren is a 25-year veteran of the Swoosh who served most recently as vice president and general manager for Nike Sportswear, which has been the brand's most consistent growth company on a global basis in the last years. Prior to that, he was also vice president of brand management for Western Europe. Reporting to Trevor Edwards, president of the Nike brand, he takes over from Greg Hoffman.
