Nike is reportedly preparing to open a mega-store of more than 1,600 square meters in the second half of this year at the department store of El Corte Inglés at the Puerta del Sol in Madrid. A person familiar with the project told Efe, the Spanish news agency, that Nike would take up four floors in the building, while a restaurant would remain on the top floor. This would make it one of the largest retail locations for the Nike brand in Spain, where it opened a store of 1,800 square meters at the shopping center of the Parque Oeste de Alcorcón in Madrid in 2014, and another flagship of 1,500 square meters at El Corte Inglés on the Portal del Ángel street in Barcelona. The offering of branded apparel currently sold by El Corte Inglés on the Puerta del Sol will reportedly transfer to another of the department store chain's sites in Madrid, but the location occupied entirely by Nike will continue to carry the El Corte Inglés name, and buyers will be able to use their customer cards.
