Nike's expansion of its already massive corporate headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, which would involve the addition of 3.2 million square feet of space, will cost more than $1 billion, according to The Oregonian. The daily's estimate is based on a comparison with real estate and similar construction costs in the surrounding area. Nike already announced last year its plans to add three buildings by 2018 to its 213-acre (86 hectares) headquarters for office and mixed-use, as well as parking facilities with 3,300 bays. Nike has continually upgraded the Beaverton campus since first purchasing the site in 1984. It spent $380 million in 2015 to fulfill a commitment to the state of Oregon to make a minimum investment of $100 million and to add 2,000 jobs in exchange for tax incentives.
