Odlo has announced the acquisition of 60-year-old British sailing brand Henri-Lloyd, apparel partner of the GBR Sail GP team and Ineos Britannia. The acquisition comes just months after Odlo bought Janus, a merino apparel manufacturer, and underscores Odlo’s commitment to growing through acquisitions across its portfolio. “We are excited about the addition of Henri-Lloyd to our family of brands. It is an iconic brand with a proud history. Together with Odlo, we intend to expand its product range and geographic presence further,” said Hugo Maurstad, chairman of the Odlo board of directors. “Henri-Lloyd and Odlo are both companies born from technical innovations in outdoor sportswear, and they will complement each other in the future.” Innovations such as waterproof seam sealing and the invention of the non-corrosive nylon zipper, which have become industry standards, have helped Henri-Lloyd become known worldwide for its quality. “By leveraging Odlo’s extensive infrastructure, we can focus our investment on the Henri-Lloyd brand and its customers while driving the ambitious sustainability agenda of all brands within Odlo International,” added Knut Are Hogberg, CEO of Odlo. “We warmly welcome the Henri-Lloyd team to the Odlo family and look forward to future collaboration.” The Henri-Lloyd team will remain in their home city of Manchester in the U.K. but will work closely with the Odlo Group on the brand’s future development and a new generation of innovative products. In May 2020, Odlo International AG and its subsidiaries were sold by a fund of Herkules Capital to Oslo-based Monte Rosa Sports Holding AG.
