The Swiss Oerlikon group, a textile technology provider, specialized in surface solutions and polymer processing solutions, has announced an agreement to acquire the zippers and accessory specialist Riri. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2023, subject to regulatory approvals and standard closing conditions.
Riri supplies global brands in the luxury sports and fashion industry, with Italy being one of the main markets for its higher-priced metal and polyester zippers and accessories. As reported in 2021, the company based in Mendirsio, Switzerland, has switched to recycled Polyester as the production standard for its zipper range and introduced its new company slogan, “Sustainability in Details.” According to Oerlikon company information, Riri has more than 1,100 employees and expects to generate sales of €170 million in 2022.
