On March 10, Bernward van Hees passed away at the age of 99. He was very much in the camping business as sales director of a German company, August Ender, since the end of the Second World War. Van Hees served for a long time as a member of the board of BSI, the German manufacturers' federation, and represented it at Fesi, the European sporting goods industry federation. Between 1965 and 1983, he was the association's treasurer. In 1982, he received BSI's “golden needle of honor” from the hands of the then-president, Armin Dassler.
