Online sales of sporting goods grew in Sweden by 32 percent in the fourth quarter of 2011, making this segment one of those experiencing one of the strongest growth rates. A specific sales figures was not immediately available. The growth estimate comes from the Swedish postal service, Posten, and HUI Research, which publish an E-sales report four times a year. The report indicates that total online sales in Sweden increased by 10.6 percent in 2011 to 27.6 billion Swedish kronor (€3.2bn--$4.3bn), accounting for roughly 5 percent of total retail sales in Sweden. They were 465 percent higher than in 2003, and they have shown no signs of slowing down during the recession.
