Only three weeks after suing Sears over a similar issue, Adidas has filed suit against Forever 21 and Central Mills in the Portland, Oregon federal court, asking it to prevent the U.S. fast-fashion chain from marketing and selling apparel bearing “either identical or confusingly similar imitations” of its three-stripes trademark. It also requests monetary damages. At issue here is a collection of striped long-sleeve T-shirts with Looney Tunes and teenage mutant Ninja Turtles motifs. A local newspaper has noted that Adidas has filed at least 325 counterfeiting suits in the U.S. over the past 55 years.
