Peak Sport Products, the Chinese sports apparel and footwear supplier, said that orders for deliveries in China in the first quarter of 2015 increased at a mid-teens rate at wholesale prices during its latest sales fair. The group has enjoyed growing orders for four consecutive seasons, which it regards as an indication of improved sell-through for its distributors. Orders were most robust in windbreakers as well as outdoor, basketball and running footwear. The group also reported low single-digit growth in comparable store sales for a sample of stores in the second quarter, until the end of June, compared with the same quarter last year. After a sizeable decrease in the last two years the number of Peak stores has apparently stabilized, with a decrease of just twelve stores to about 6,000 around China at the end of the quarter, all of them managed by independent distributors or retail outlet operators.
