Pentland Brands, owner of the Speedo, Berghaus, Canterbury of New Zealand, Endura, Ellesse and Mitre brands, announced a key change to its leadership team: Joe Spies will become President, Americas, effective this month, following the retirement of Matt Rock, current President, Americas, after 19 years with the company.

Rock’s career at Pentland Brands began in 2005 when he joined as Sales Manager for Ted Baker footwear, later rising to Managing Director of the brand. He took on the role of Global Supply Chain Director in 2015 and President Asia Pacific in 2018, where he led the global supply chain and regional commercial teams. In 2022, Rock took on the important task of integrating the North American Speedo business into Pentland Brands’ global business and selecting a local leader for the Americas division.

Spies, who now assumes the role of President, Americas, brings over 17 years of experience from his time at Converse, most recently as VP Wholesale for North America. He moved from Converse to Pentland Brands at the end of 2023 and was most recently SVP, Sales for North America. The group believes his strong market and retail experience makes him the ideal leader to drive Pentland Brands’ vision and growth ambitions in the Americas.
