The Spanish padel brand StarVie has hired Alejandro Fernández-Cid Alegre to serve as CEO. The previous CEO, Jorge Gómez de la Vega, stepped down on Feb. 28, after 17 years, as we reported at the time.

Fernández-Cid Alegre has since 2021 been CEO of Enext, a small management consultancy focused on “transformation and artificial intelligence.” His other earlier posts include CEO and Transformation Champion at the marketing firm PDM (now called People), Head of Sales and Transformation Champion at the insurer SegurCaixa Adelsas, and Head of Sales and Transformation at the pharmaceuticals firm Eli Lilly and Co.

StarVie says it is preparing to “diversify its portfolio, strengthen its global footprint, and position itself as a benchmark in applied innovation within the world of padel. Fernández-Cid Alegre will be overseeing the plan’s three prongs: the expansion of StarVie Labs, the launch of a StarVie International Team and an expansion into new sports, like pickleball and beach tennis.
