Dr. Ulrich Hanfeld

Austrian sporting goods retailer Hervis is taking the next step in its ongoing restructuring: By the end of June 2024, Dr. Ulrich Hanfeld will assume sole responsibility for the management board. The retail professional was brought into the company at the beginning of the year to sharpen the strategy, revise the procurement structure and review the portfolio. Hervis operates a total of 240 stores in Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia and Romania.

The sports retailer, which is part of the Spar Austria Group, is currently undergoing a comprehensive restructuring process, primarily affecting strategy, marketing, purchasing and international procurement. To this end, Spar brought Hanfeld on board at the beginning of 2024 to form the management team alongside Oliver Seda. The Spar Management Board is now handing over sole management to Hanfeld at the end of June 2024. He will also continue to review the locations. Most recently, for example, in Gleisdorf, where there were two Hervis stores, one was closed, and the remaining one was upgraded. Seda will take on a different role within the group.

Hervis generated sales revenue of €510 million in six countries in 2023. A good 3,000 people are employed, including 260 apprentices.
