Perry Ellis International has signed a license agreement for its Gotcha brand in North Africa with Kennek FZE, a Morocco-based sourcing and retail business specializing in surf and skate products. The deal allows Kennek to source and distribute a full range of products under the Gotcha label, from surf boards and wetsuits to footwear and casual wear. Also, as part of the deal, Kennek plans to open eight Gotcha stores in Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia over the next four years, and to drive Gotcha's African expansion further on a franchise basis in the future. The first Gotcha store in North Africa is scheduled to open in November. Kennek FZE already has manufacturing and distribution licenses for North Africa with brands such as Billabong, O'Neill, Rip Curl and Element. For Perry Ellis, the new deal with Kennek FZE is part of a wider expansion strategy. Perry Ellis has already signed other international licensing deals this year, including two for its flagship Perry Ellis brand in South Korea, for underwear and eyewear, and two more in Mexico for the design and distribution of men's tailored apparel and accessories under the Original Penguin brand.
