Pitti Uomo attracted fewer attendees this June as compared to the June edition last year. Around 19,000 buyers attended the 92nd edition for the spring/summer collections, down from 20,500 in June 2016. The edition which was held in Florence on June 13-16, 2017 attracted more than 30,000 visitors overall. The number of Italian buyers dropped by 8-9 percent, partly due to the high comparison base, as the 2016 summer session had marked a ten-year record. Foreign buyers increased by 2.4 percent, with 14 European countries in the top 20 home countries including Germany, Spain, the U.K., the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Austria, Portugal, Russia, Greece, Denmark, Russia and Poland. Also in the top 20 are Japan, the U.S., South Korea, China, Turkey and Canada. According to a report by Corriere Fiorentino, the organizers of the menswear trade show are currently discussing the possibility of shifting the dates of the event, which now takes place twice a year, in January and June.
