Pon Bike has acquired Urban Arrow, a Dutch brand of electric cargo bikes. Pon has disclosed no financial details about the acquisition. Founded in Amsterdam in 2010 by Jorrit Kreek and Gerald van Weel, Urban Arrow operates in 20 countries and employs a staff of 60 at its headquarters and factory in Amsterdam. The company has been successfully selling an electric bike for the transportation of children at €5,000. In the commercial market, its specialty is last-mile mobility, and its customers include courier services such as DHL and UPS as well as a big Dutch supermarket chain, Albert Heijn. It is a strong competitor in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany and is enjoying steady growth in North America. The plan now is to pursue expansion. Urban Arrow will stay in Amsterdam, under its founders, and operate independently within Pon Bike. Pon in turn belongs to Pon Holdings, the largest mobility group in The Netherlands, and owner of such brands as Cervélo, Kalkhoff, Santa Cruz, Focus, Royal Dutch Gazelle, Swapfiets and Lease-A-Bike.
