TGL, the new golf league we reported on about a week ago, finds itself in the rough. The league was set to make its debut this coming January with some serious pros in on its six teams, but a power outage has collapsed an air-supported dome on its playing grounds, the SoFi Center at Palm Beach State College, Florida.

TGL will now be postponing its debut until sometime in 2025, but not because the dome will require that long to repair. As Sports Business Journal reports, Mike McCarley – TGL’s co-founder with Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods – came to a decision after a two-hour meeting with Rosalyn Durant, Executive Vice President of Programming and Acquisitions at ESPN. The American sports network’s coverage of TGL is much of the league’s reason for being, and the only way to secure that coverage is for the league lay to occur on its previously negotiated January-to-March schedule. Otherwise, it would conflict with coverage of the NBA and NHL, not to mention the schedules of the pro golfers themselves.

The lineup is set so far for two of TGL’s six teams. The other four are still prospecting.
