Capitalizing on the strong global fitness trend, Amazon will be adding three services to its Amazon Halo subscription fitness service for the holidays at the end of the year: a health tracker, called Halo View; a video service for home workouts, called Halo Fitness; and a custom, guided meal planner, called Halo Nutrition. Along with an AmoLed color display and haptic feedback, Halo View will measure sleep, blood oxygen level, heart rate, acceleration and skin temperature while also tracking live workouts. It will cost $79.99 and at come with a year’s membership. Halo Fitness will provide “studio-quality workouts” (in cardio, strength, yoga, outdoor and mobility) led by “industry experts” (such as Michael Hildebrand, Elena Cheung and Elizabeth Andrews) and real-time heart rate tracking and a heart rate intensity zone. The Fitness app will be making its debut this year, with the live measurements coming next year. Halo Nutrition, due out in January, will provide recipes and meal planning, with menus adjustable by dietary needs and set menus for such standard diets as keto, Mediterranean, Nordic, paleo, vegan and vegetarian. Some menus will come from Whole Foods and WW, and the app will have a link-up with Alexa Shopping. Fitness and Nutrition will be bundled into the regular Halo membership. To go along with the Halo system Amazon is also selling elastic, fabric and leather sports bands, in various colors.
