Biomaterial specialist AMSilk, based in Munich, and industry solutions provider Brain Biotech have entered a partnership to accelerate the development of high-performance fibers for the performance materials market. AMSilk produces biotechnological materials based on renewable carbon structural proteins that are fully recyclable, biodegradable and contain no microplastics. The company’s Biosteel fabric has premiered in the upper of an Adidas running shoe. According to the company, the new partnership with Brain Biotech aims for the optimization of specific properties of the structural proteins by modifying them at the molecular level for various high-performance-oriented fields of application in the textile sector.
