Intersport’s Energetics brand, a new collection for training, running and yoga, focuses on sustainability. Every third product in the collection for FW 22/23 for training already bears the new “Green Series” logo that Intersport introduced this summer for its exclusive brands. “The new sustainability label follows a clear philosophy: Reduce, Recycle, Rethink,” explains COO Frank Geisler about the sustainable product strategy. Reduce refers to reducing, for example, CO2, chemicals and water in the manufacture of products; Recycle refers to the use of recyclable materials such as plastic or marine waste; and Rethink to the use of natural materials and adherence to ethical principles. “It’s about being considerate of resources and reducing the use of materials. In doing so, production processes are fundamentally reconsidered and, where possible, in closed cycles. Our goal is to keep expanding the proportion of the collection with a Green Series logo. In the running segment, the majority of exclusive brand products already have sustainable components; in the training range, we currently have 78 percent, and every third product even bears the stricter Green Series logo,” Geisler continues. The logo identifies sustainable models in textiles, footwear and hard goods, where at least 50 percent of the main components are made from sustainable materials.
