Just as Nike is starting to outfit the members of victorious Liverpool football team with its jerseys and cleats, Adidas has started a multi-year contract with the English club’s coach, Jürgen Klopp, to be one of its ambassadors, effective immediately. As he did before from 2016 with New Balance, the former sponsor of the club, the German coach will wear Adidas shoes and clothing and participate in the German brand’s campaigns under a separate, personal contract. The same has happened with José Mourinho, the Portuguese coach of the Tottenham Hotspurs, who continues to wear Adidas although the club is sponsored by the Swoosh. Reportedly, Nike doesn’t require any football coach to wear its shoes because of a lack of visibility.
