Premier Padel – the official worldwide pádel circuit, under the International Pádel Federation (FIP), and supported by Professional Padel Association (PPA) and Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) – has been signing deals for media coverage of its tournaments.
The circuit has, for instance, signed a multiyear deal with Vivendi-owned French cable channel Canal+, which will be broadcasting throughout the Francophone world as well as in parts of Eastern Europe. Its coverage will begin with the Greenweez Paris Premier Padel Major, which will take place at Roland-Garros, home of the French Open tennis tournament, July 11-17.
The circuit has signed another deal with the top public television broadcaster in Spain, Televisión Española (TVE), as well as its digital platform, RTVE, for non-exclusive coverage of the 2022 season. TVE will also begin its coverage with the Greenweez Paris Premier Padel Major. It will also cover the second-tier Premier Padel P1, scheduled for Aug. 1-6 in Madrid.
The other broadcasters are ESPN (Latin America and the Caribbean), Viaplay (northern Europe), beIN (Middle East, North Africa, Southeast Asia and Asia-Pacific), Charlton (Israel) and Supersport (parts of Africa).
Premier Padel says that its major tournament in Italy in May drew the largest audience yet, having been broadcast in” more than 167 territories,” surpassing the 156 of the Ooredoo Qatar Major, which took place in Doha in March. The fourth of these majors, in Mexico, is scheduled for Nov. 28 to Dec. 4 in Monterrey. Argentina’s second-tier Premier Padel P1 is scheduled for Aug. 8-14.
