Protest, the Dutch action sports apparel brand, is gearing up to move into the U.S. market. The Dutch company said that its business in the European market was stable, with subsidiaries in the German-speaking countries, France and the U.K., which allows it to start exploring the U.S. market. Peter Korver, an executive with more than 20 years of experience in the industry, is supporting the project as a part-time consultant. A former general manager for Puma in the Benelux countries, Korver was most recently chief executive of Nomad, the Dutch outdoor company. Protest is preparing a business plan that covers commercial as well as legal and fiscal arrangements. Although it has yet to decide on the modalities of its market entry, the company is considering getting into the U.S. through online retailing only. Protest is anticipating its U.S. market launch in the beginning of next year. The brand is already active in other markets outside of Europe, such as Russia and China.
