Puma has unveiled the Clyde Court #Reform basketball shoe, inspired by the hip-hop artist Meek Mill and the Olympic athlete Tommie Smith, who respectively have been championing criminal justice reform and universal equality. The sneakers are available for pre-sale on Puma's e-commerce website. The full release is scheduled for Feb. 1. The sneakers fit in with Puma #Reform, the social justice platform the company launched in October. In fact, all proceeds from sales of the sneaker will go toward the Reform Alliance, a new organization launched in tandem with Puma #Reform, devoted to criminal justice reform and gender equality in the U.S., and for which Puma is the exclusive brand partner. Among Reform Alliance's leaders are Meek Mill, the aforementioned hip-hop artist; Michael Rubin, co-owner of the Philadelphia 76ers and executive chairman of Fanatics; Jay-Z, the hip-hop artist; and Robert Craft, chief executive of the Kraft Group and owner of the New England Patriots. To boost publicity, Puma is sponsoring DeMarcus Cousins and DeAndre Ayton, two NBA players who will be wearing the new sneakers, and Puma will donate $5,000 to Reform Alliance in each player's name.
