Puma has withdrawn a range of shoes featuring the colors of the flag of the United Arab Emirates, after an outcry from consumers who regarded the products as disrespectful. Puma apologized for the limited edition range, which was meant to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the UAE. The protesters apparently deemed it inappropriate that a red, white, black and green design should be affixed to such a down-to-earth item as a sneaker. Puma said it had started removing the shoes from all stores.
