Puma has launched the Extent, a sneaker whose midsole features an innovative Nitro (nitrogen-infused) foam that is said to make it extremely lightweight, springy and soft. The Extent’s layered upper is inspired by Puma’s archive of 2000s long-distance running shoes. The material mixtures differ from one color to another, including the use of engineered mesh panels and neoprene on some versions, while others feature a more classic application of nubuck and suede. The Puma Extent will be available starting Oct. 13.
A similar concept – a trail running shoe with a nitrogen-infused midsole – was just introduced by Inov-8. You can read about it in The Outdoor Industry Compass.
