Pure Fishing, the fishing tackle subsidiary of Jarden Corporation that owns Abu Garcia, Berkley, Mitchel, Shakespeare and other brands, has taken over substantially all the assets of Beyond Fishing & Sporting Goods, a South African company that has been distributing its products in sub-Saharan Africa for more than two years. The takeover has led Jarden to set up its first company in Africa, called Jarden South Africa Proprietary Ltd. Graham Hills, former owner of Beyond Fishing, will join the new company, based in the Johannesburg area, to continue to handle Jarden's fishing tackle brands.
