Quiksilver will soon have a series of “.surf” web addresses. The maker of surf wear has joined Minds + Machines' pioneer program to secure a number of .surf domain names, including quiksilver.surf and others such as camp.surf, wetsuits.surf, roxy.surf and more. Other companies like Hurley and Billabong have also secured domain names on .surf. Quiksilver is planning to start an “event.surf” site, which will lead to the various events in the surfing world, as well as a “quik.surf” site, which will redirect to social media. By adopting a .surf domain name, Quiksilver said it is emphasizing the brand's desire to branch out into the digital world and social media, as its biggest audience – the youth – use digital and social media the most. Quiksilver saw its revenues drop by 11 percent to $1.57 billion in its 2014 financial year.
