Recco will be partnering with Red Bull X-Alps on the races that will take place in 2019 and 2021. All 32 athletes participating in the 2019 edition of the Red Bull X-Alps will be equipped with Recco reflectors in their backpacks, helmets, and official Salewa outerwear. Athletes are already equipped with outdoor mobile navigation, GPS and satellite tracking devices, but the event's organizers decided to add an additional level of safety. The paragliders and endurance athletes competing in the race will embark on a trans-alpine journey from Salzburg, Austria to the Principality of Monaco on June 16, 2019 via land and air. In case a competitor gets lost or goes missing, the Recco Helicopter Detector will help support the rescuers' efforts. Being searchable when traversing the Alps by foot and paraglider is key to the safety of the contestants. The Red Bull X-Alps takes place every two years. Applications for entry in the 2019 edition are now closed. The detailed route of the race will be unveiled on March 13.
