According to CMDsport, the German football specialist Eleventeamsports has begun operations on the Iberian peninsula with an e-commerce site and is planning to establish a network of franchise stores there over the coming years. Its main competition in Spain is Fútbol Emotion. Founded in 2007, the German retailer and distributor has struck major deals with Adidas, Puma and especially Nike. About a year and a half ago, it acquired a majority stake in Top4sport, operator of Top4football, Top4running and Top4fitness. This Czech company is now spearheading the expansion of 11teamsports in Spain and elsewhere in Europe. The new Spanish website, 11teamsports.es, is in fact an overhaul of Top4football.es. There is also a Portuguese site: 11Teamsports.pt. According to Top4sport’s sales director, Vaclav Vacha, there should be a physical 11teamsports store in Spain by the end of this year. The retail expansion is to occur through agreements with existing retailers specializing in football, and the pace of new openings is to increase over time. Vacha declined to specify potential locations to CMDsport, but would say that the current Spanish staff of five would quadruple by the end of 2021. Top4Sport draws most of its revenues from football (87%), with running (8%) and fitness (5%) far behind, but an expansion in the running category is in the works. Eleventeamsports is projecting revenues of €270 million for this year.
