Fusalp, the French skiwear brand, will mark its 70th anniversary this year with the opening of its first U.S. store in November, in the ski resort town of Aspen. Later, in 2023, the company plans to open a store in New York. Fusalp was founded in 1952 in Annecy by two visionary tailors who created ski garments, including the skin-tight “fuseau” stirrup pants. The company takes its name from an abbreviation of “fuseau from the Alps.” In January 2015, Fusalp was taken over by two prominent members of the Lacoste family, Philippe Lacoste and his sister Sophie. A year later, in January 2015, Mathilde Lacoste, Philippe’s wife, became Fusalp’s creative director, a role she still holds. The brand has more than 50 stores worldwide.
