France-based payment service provider Worldline has partnered with sports fashion retailer JD Sports to enable its customers to make donations through its payment terminals using the charity fintech Pennies’ micro-donation application. Currently in use at 151 locations, the product will be fully rolled out to approximately 679 JD Group stores, including Tessuti, Size, Scotts, Go Outdoors, Black and Millets, in the U.K. in the third quarter of the year. When JD customers hold or insert their card at the payment terminal in JD Group stores, the application will ask them if they would like to add £0.2 to their purchase for charity. This solution is fully digitally driven, and once the donations are collected, the majority of the funds are transferred to the retailer’s designated charity partner, in this case the JD Foundation.
