Lids is opening its first European stores at four locations in the London metropolitan area this month. The leading U.S. retailer for sports caps mentioned the success it has enjoyed with the opening earlier this year of an NBA store that it has been operating in London, in cooperation with Fanatics. Lids has a network of nearly 2,000 stores in the U.S. and Canada, including concessions at Macy’s and DSW. Lids was acquired in 2004 by an American shoe retailing group, Genesco, which then sold it in 2019 to a joint venture between Fanatics and Ames Watson.
