The Indian-based Hero MotoCorp (HMC) group, which claims to be the world’s largest manufacturer of bicycles, has hired an American bike industry veteran, Jeff Weiss, to head up a new subsidiary in London, Hero International (HIT), that is aiming to reach European sales of €300 million by 2026. This would include the traditional Hero Cycle business as well as two subsidiaries in the U.K. and Germany, Avocet Sports and HNF-Nicolai. Weiss managed the Trek Group’s sales in EMEA from 2002 to 2004 and international sales at Dorel Sports’ Cycling Sports Group from 2007 to 2019. He has been working most recently with Saris Cycling, a U.S. manufacturer of bike accessories. More in the Outdoor Industry Compass.
