At the start of this month Sprinter opened two new Iberian stores, in Alcantarilla and Andorra, according to Diffusion Sport.
The first of these is the JD Group-owned retailer’s third store in the Spanish region of Murcia. It is also the smallest of the two, at 702 square meters, 504 of them devoted to the sales floor. The other measures 2,250 square meters (1,770 for the sales floor) and follows a design first used at Parque Sud in Madrid, with several services tailored to the individual. All sports are represented, but fitness and cycling take center stage.
Sprinter plans before the year is out to open another seven stores. Those in Salamanca, Lanzarote and Nigrán will be opening October, November and December respectively. Dates for Novelda, Barcelona, Madrid and Vilanova i la Geltrú are forthcoming.
The retailer expects the these stores together to generate about 140 jobs.
