Retail sales of sporting goods in Norway reached a record level of more than 3.2 billion kroner (€335.9m-$395.5m) during the first quarter of 2018, up by 11 percent from the same quarter of 2017. According to Sportsbransjen, the Norwegian sporting goods industry association, good snow conditions and cold temperatures were a major contributing factor to the upswing, with an estimated 380,000 pairs of skis sold during the period. Sport 1 displayed the strongest quarterly growth with sales up 16.8 percent from last year. XXL increased by 11.3 percent. Gresvig reported growth of 12.3 percent for the company's two chains, G-Max/G-Sport and Intersport.
