Retail sales of sporting goods in Sweden took a sharp turn for the worse in June. According to Sweden's HUI Research, after year-on-year increases in both April and May, sales declined by 2.1 percent in June. This means that the cumulative turnover for the first six months of 2013 are 0.1 percent down from the same period of 2012. Possible reasons for the negative growth may include the lack of a major sporting event and the fact that the month of June this year had one fewer Sunday and Friday than in 2012.
